BusTed in Derwent Bridge

Hi Everyone,
We've put a map in to give you an idea of where we are up to.
As you can see we've made a Z.
We docked at Devonport (just below the 74-75)
went left, back again, down then right.

There is really not a lot of civilisation around Derwent Bridge except for tourists, if you look at the map its Cradle Mountain National Park on one side and Franklin -Gordon River National Park on the other.
After long stretches of rolling hills and trees, we came to the river and set up camp.

and turned Theodora into a Chinese laundry.

  But where is BusTed???

Then took a cruise (ferry) on Lake St Caire......the deepest Lake in Australia and the highest ferry service too.

This old pump house on the western shore has been approved for conversion into a 5 star restaurant...
We might have to come back.

This mountain reminded me of something ??

There are a few cottages for the
hikers ,we stopped and checked it out.
A little rough, but better than the ground.

Then back to the ferry for some more fun.

This is soooo Christina Aguilera.

However, I think I should be looking out for Gilligan.

Oh!!! now that's just sexy !!!

We pick up a dozen or so hikers that have trekked from Cradle Mountain 5 days ago.
The Captain warns us there might be a B.O. problem, but it was fine.

So here is BusTed !!
That was cheeky, thanks Janette.

The Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel, expensive, but lovely.

The main reason for our visit to this neck of the woods is to see the work of a local sculptor.
This piece of wood relief is in the Hotel, but his main body of work is in his gallery down the road.

The project he has set himself is a 100 metre wood carving of the history of the area. His purpose built gallery/studio is stunning. It allows you to see the work in progress, meet the artist Greg Duncan, and watch him work.. if you are lucky.

There are no photos allowed inside, these metal eagles guard the entrance like sentinels.

This is an example of the quality of his work from the publicity flyer.
It is stunning. He aims to be completed in 2015 a ten year endeavour.

Till next time
love
Ellen and Michelle
