BusTed on Bruny Island the BIGGEST Blog yet !!!

Hi Everyone,
Are you ready for it ??
It's a big one!!
We start by putting Theodora on another ferry, not as big as the first one, but just as exciting.

Bruny Island is just south of Hobart and has two parts, North and South Island..... the thin strip of land joining the two is called the neck. This was an amazing place complete with a Penguin Rookery.

We climbed the 100's of steps.

The higher we went, the more spectacular the views.

Until finally we reached the top and had some fun with the camera.

We set up camp at the bottom of the south island, a place called The Old Jetty. The water was pristine and chilly, but the temperature didn't stop us from having a few swims.
Here we find Ellen cooling off.

A bit more playing with the camera...very handy.

We popped the motorbike off and headed a further 10 km south to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse.

The lighthouse was built back in 1836 and it's still in great condition.
Fabulous spiral staircase.

The views, well awesome.

Now, we mentioned that we rode the motorbike here, her name is Belle, which leads us to....
Where is Belle?

That really is too hard, anyway, we picnicked on the hilltop and had some of the best views in Tassie as a backdrop.

Then much to our excitement came our Bruny island Cruise, we left from Adventure Bay.....on an adventure all right.

Now, this is not just any old cruise , we got to wear these really trendy weather jackets...or should I say dresses....they came down to our ankles.

We followed the east coast down through the  Bay of  Islands, with some of the most spectacular coastline.

This is an underwater blowhole cave, conical in shape, the rush of the water as it recedes roars and it becomes even louder as it fills back up exploding with a huge water spray.
We watched it for ages...as a big wave approached, we all held our breath in anticipation, we were not disappointed, it was very impressive.

We wove in and out of inlets and in and around rock formations, this one is called the keyhole....can't really guess why ??

This is all national park and this particular rock formations reminded us of Sydney.

The next part of our journey entailed travelling at a great rate of knots through these giant columns.

Woohoo.!!

The promise of  hundreds of seals awaited us, down at The Friars.

We were not disappointed, hundreds of them.

All males, the females were somewhere else.... I can't remember where, so here are the boys different shapes and sizes swimming, basking, playing even an odd tussle.

We got incredibly close to the rocks for some great photos.

There were also heaps of  Black-faced cormorants, sitting on snow topped rocks.
Oops, I meant to say shitting on shit topped rocks !!
It made for more great photos.

Then we headed back travelling out to sea a little further for a bit of fun and frolicking dolphins.

They swam around the boat and had so much fun, they were heaps smaller than our Tuncurry  dolphins.

After a speedy trip back and another few interesting stops,we headed into the marina.
It was here that we Ellen took this
Where is BusTed??

Just one more awesome seal photo.

So exhausted, but excited we headed back to the neck, and a camp spot right near the beach.
We were strolling along the beach in the afternoon when we spotted an artist.
We were chatting and found out she was Jean from Gloucester, not only that....she is a member of the Gloucester Park Bench Poets group just like Ellen. They have been reading each others poems for a year or so but this was the first time  they'd met...pretty amazing eh?.

The evening was so beautiful, I was happy playing with the camera while Ellen chatted on the phone and caught up with family.

This is the artist, Jean and her husband fishing.

Next day, it was off onto the ferry again.

It really is pretty cool.

We were last on.....so we had heaps of room.
What a great time we had on Bruny Island.

Till next time
love from
 Ellen and Michelle
