BusTed in Arthur River

The Edge of the World

Well, we finally reached it.
The sea west of Tasmania is the longest uninterrupted expanse of ocean on the globe.
From Argentina the currents sweep unimpeded more than halfway around the planet until they hit this point.

THE EDGE OF THE WORLD
North West Coast Tasmania

Cast my pebble onto the shore of  Eternity
To be washed by the Ocean of Time.
It has shape, form and substance.
It is me.
One day I will be no more.
But my pebble will remain here.
On the shore of Eternity.
Mute witness for the aeons.
That today I came and stood,
at the edge of the world.

Here is Ellens' pebble.

.....and there it goes.

kersplash !!

Here is my pebble.

......and there it goes.....Oh Shit !!!! I landed on the rocks..

Okay, here is my bigger pebble.

Phew!! splashdown.

That was a close one. Now talking about close ones, check out this skinny little bridge we took the bus over...OMG.

It was a lovely morning, so heading back East from whence we came we popped into the Tarkine Forest Adventure at Dismal Swamp.

This was an extraordinary building with café and gift shop.
Also it was the start point for a huge slide down through the forest to a 640 ha sinkhole.
It looked great, the only downside was; you had to walk back up the hill, and I wasn't quite up to that yet.

We left feeling good and camped in a nice little spot at Smithton, Ellen pulled out her massage table and worked her magic on me.
How nice is that.

Next day we were driving along and we saw all these lovely orange wild flowers (probably weeds??) anyway, lovely flowers. So I stopped and picked some for my beautiful Ellen.

Till next time

BusTed in Marrawah

Hi, it's us again,

Well we have been good with our blog updates since being in Tasmania.
We're still headed west towards the 'edge of the world', a nice little place, we stopped at on the way, was called Green Point at Marrawah.
Apparently, it is visited by storm chasers following the big waves.
Once again we perched ourselves right near the water, but it was freezing.....no swimming, just lovely walks.
Ellen discovered these shells fossilised in the rocks, pretty cool hey.

She also found a piece of coral that resembled a six fingered old scary hand.

The scenery still spectacular.

Notice the little Eskimo in the left hand side of this shot.

Ellen once again, great photos. The rocks scattered on the beach are so varied in design and colour as if they have come from all over the place.

I don't know if you can spot the Windfarm on the headland, right at the tip, there must be over 50 of them.

Till next time
Love from

BusTed in Stanley

Hi Again
We are still heading west, this time to a place called Stanley which boasts a large landform known as the 'Nut'. You can see it here in the distance, it's 152m high

There is a really nice walking track to the top of the hill. We watched other more energetic people do this as we rode the chair lift up.

Once there, it was a 2km walk around the top. See we're not totally slack.

With spectacular views.
Here are two nutless, nuts on the nut.

We parked overnight at the wharf  right at the base of the 'Nut'. So many fisher people threw a line in off the wharf and several were successful. The wind was howling and quite cold, but we got some great shots.

Ellen took this one .......AWESOME.

and I took this.

Next day we headed off to see the Historic Highfield House... on the way, we took a left turn to see what was there and photos and flying kites was the order of the morning.

Now Ellen......is that you jumping again???

Then on to Highfield House, a step back in time.

We really got a sense of life during those early years, the seclusion and loneliness, as well as the grandeur of it all.

Ellen was very impressed with the cellar now she wants one.

The nursery was huge.

The outbuildings intriguing.

This Ruin is from Convict Barracks. There were 40 odd convicts in the area an half were kept in these barracks.

Here is a tricky one...
Where is that bloody Bus??

Till next time
lots of love

BusTed in Burnie and Boat Harbour Beach

Hi Again

As we continued our way across the top of Tassie , we came to a wonderful place in Burnie called "The Makers' Workshop"
located in the tourist information centre.

There were numerous artist showing their skills and wares. The most impressive to us was the paper making with a huge display of Sculptures from hand made paper.

Also, impressive was this violin carved from bush timber from a logger whilst out in the bush back in the early 1900s.

Incredible.

We left Burnie and headed along a bit further to Table Cape, a nice slow uphill drive to an old Lighthouse. It is rich in history and would be worth a return trip in spring to see the fields of colourful poppies. The view of the coastline was spectacular.
Our beautiful bus is dwarfed by the size of this structure.

Well then moving west, we found heaven, Boat Harbour Beach ,this place is stunning, houses nestled among the hills with little footpaths leading straight onto the beach. There is only 100 houses here and only 30 permanent residences. The surf club is well supported and has really good food.

Now, remember back on the dock, Ellen did a little happy leap, Its becoming a bit of a thing....she just cant seem to help herself.

So gorgeous.

We saw a real live Christmas tree including the star.

The colour of the water is blue ....the camera really hasn't done it justice, similar to Tuncurry.

Time for another
Where's BusTed??

We wondered at first why so many people were in wetsuits....well yes the water is a little nippy.

Ellen walked out into the water for this next great shot.

We met some great people here as well, we will return to here for sure.
We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon at the surf club being entertained by local musicians and drinking with some new found friends.
We also met a cute little Springer Spaniel puppy named Rosie....sooooo sweet.

Tassie being as it is so far I am sure we will meet again.
Love to Everyone
Till next Time
