BusTed in Windermere

Hi lovely people,

Stopped in at a little place called Deviot ( yes, that's really it's name), to see some photography by local man, Jon Morrison. Little did we know how impressed we would be by his work. Absolutely beautiful. He does nude photography and we now own a fabulous piece that will take pride of place in our home when we decide to settle.

Afterward we crossed the Tamar River and headed south along its eastern banks towards Launceston. We stopped at a little town called Windermere. Very nice, built along the hilly banks of the river. There wasn't much level ground, fortunately we were the only campers and were able to pop Theodora on the grassy bank of the Tamar right below St Mathuis' church.

The setting sun over the water was magic.

In the morning we checked out the graveyard in the church grounds and learned some history from the passing locals out for their morning walk. Apparently, it was built by a doctor who, when deciding to move there, promised his wife if there was no church he would build her one. There wasn't so he did. This is his grave site, and that of two of his children, we couldn't find his wife's.

While looking I came across this grave that looked like it was draped in a blanket of dead leaves, so lovely.

Another grave stone of a man who died at only 30 years had "Simply trusting in Jesus" carved in it and Howard Kulh, (no idea who he is, local I assume), had been moved enough to write this poem and attach it to the headstone. I found it really touching.

Some people are just beautiful.

Love
Michelle and Ellen.

BusTed in Beaconsfield

Hello again.
Michelle decided that we couldn't come to Tassie and not try some freshly grown apples. As you can see she was so excited to come across this roadside stall.

How impressive was this orchard ?

Not being a big apple fan, I thought they were ok. Michelle enjoyed them and, because there were so many in the bag,  made us individual apple pies out of some. Yummy

We stopped at this park outside Beaconsfield for a cuppa,

and this family drove up in their vintage Ford. Beautiful.

We went to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Museum. It was great fun. Firstly though a chance to stop and smell the roses. Michelle thinks I'm nuts but I love smelling them.
Anyway, there were special hand pictures on several of the exhibits which meant you could touch. WooHoo lets go...super shell.
Doesn't this beauty bring back memories.

What number? Please hold while I connect you.

Back to school for Michelle.

MMM more cursive practice needed I see.

Rag rug making.

Get me out of here!

How about a bit of gold panning out at the old hut?

This is a model of the mine and all the underground shafts they had dug ( those white ribbon looking things). Extensive eh?

However, nature always reclaims doesn't it.

We'd wandered all over that museum then we finally realised that this was the actual Beaconsfield Mine where those two miners were trapped underground for 2 weeks in 2006,

and that we were looking at the very same lift door they used to finally exit the mine.
So moving.

There was a whole section of the mine dedicated to the incident and how the town pulled together.

We spent two and a half hours wandering around that museum, it was fantastic.
Well worth the visit.
Till next time.
Michelle and Ellen.

BusTed in Forth, Port Sorrell and Paper Beach

Hi again,
Well, this blog will show how far behind we are.
Ellen and I enjoyed a lovely lunch at this old pub in Forth for Valentines Day.

Breakfast the next morning was also a treat, with special eggs.  Awww how sweet.
Ellen says her attempt on valentines morning looked like heart surgery gone terribly wrong.
 We didn't photograph hers.
I say it's the thought that counts. I loved it.

After our friendly local mechanic replaced our fanbelts we were off again.
This time to Port Sorrell, we weren't that impressed by it all, but the beach did have remarkable quicksand.

I didn't think it was going to let go of Ellen.....but it did.

She lives to walk another day.

Leaving behind the sinking sands we travel a little further back down the road.

We stopped overnight at a nice little spot, Paper Beach.
Not much paper, but lots of stones.

More great photos from Ellen. Looks a little like a drowning person.

Best to wear shoes on this beach.

If I look a bit tired I am, all this fun and holiday stuff is wearing me out.
Not to mention...or shall I.... that all this walking makes me poo! and the tooties are a long way back. Ahhhhhhhhh, thankfully I made it AGAIN.

Love to Everyone

BusTed in Kentish Park ,Railton and Latrobe

Hi to You all.
Here we are in Kentish Park, not too far from Sheffield and on the side of a hill.
What's a girl got to do to get a bit of service around here?

The views were stunning , but flat spots were rare.
This Where's BusTed ? is a little tricky, almost as tricky as parking there.

This body of water is Lake Barrington.

After a few days of rest we headed off to Railton, a small town known for its abundance of

WE Got LoSt.

Ellen lost her head.....

I LoST my mInd.

The this big scary thing took Ellen oooooooo.

We managed to find ourselves contemplating lifes' wonders.

Then it was a time for a good look around.

Can you see MicHElle??
Where is MicHelle??

It was nice to reach the middle of some of the mazes there were cool shady trees.

The Village of Lower Crackpot was so much fun.

OOps!!
not for everyone.

We seriously had the best day.

The Yellow Brick Road Maze had flowers everywhere and buzzzzing around these flowers were beeeez on steroids.

When we were near the end of the mazes something come bounding through the hedge. Ellen was quick enough to get this shot off of a little bandicoot.

To finish off a perfect day in a lavender field with a mountainesque backdrop.

It doesn't get much better than that.
Till next time
Lots of Love
From
Tasmania
