BusTed in Glasshouse Mounains

Hello all,
Glasshouse Mountains, how magnificent.

These amazing natural structures were formed by intrusions of lava that didn't explode out the top of the mountain. The lava cooled very slowly and formed a very hard core. The surrounding sandstone mountain eroded over time leaving these hard cores exposed.

This mountain's walking track has been closed for a while as this rock face, called the organ pipes, dropped a rock the size of a small car which fell along the track to the base of the mountain in four seconds. Fortunately no one was climbing at the time.

We stayed at a caravan park situated on the original cobb and co property. The guy running it still makes wooden coaches. Using this old cobb and co coach, he did a Melbourne to Townsville run to raise money for the royal flying doctor service and is thinking of doing another run. He holds the record for the most horses pulling a cobb and co coach, (32 horses, 8 rows of 4) Impressive eh?

I decided I wanted to climb one of these beautiful mountains, Michelle was resting down the bottom. So, picking the easiest one, named gnun gnun ( pronounced nu nu ) meaning "faces", I followed a gentle path up hill for 40 mins.
Ahhh my legs, my lungs, why did I decide to do this?

Ah yes now I remember, fantastic eh? 360 degree views.

This one had a very obvious face.

Bye for now.
Michelle and Ellen.
