BusTed in Lake Broadwater

Hi Again....
We have decided to take it slow and head toward the coast, a lady we met at St George suggested Lake Broadwater.
OMG
What a beautiful part of the world.

Its a Conservation Park about 30km out of Dalby, and the birdlife and wildlife abounds.
Check out this little birdie I found wandering along the foreshore.

What a way to greet the day, a nice sunrise and Eastern Grey Kangaroos grazing right outside our bus door. This became a frequent occurrence over the following week that we stayed.

There was a bird hide only a short walk from where we were camped and it didn't take long before we started to see some action.

This is one of the few times we wished for a better camera, only so we could zoom in a lot closer to the birds. These guys are called yellow beaked spoonbills, or something like that, they walk along the waters edge swaying their bills from side to side catching little fish.

At about 4 o'clock one afternoon, the sound of bagpipes floated out from across the waters.
Ellen and I grabbed the camera and set about to find the source. Here we found James, an amazing pipe player and a really nice guy. He had walked up to the other end, away from most of the people so as not to be too loud......well, half of us followed him .

When Ellen suggested we ' take a walk' my ears heard, 'lets get the motorbike off and go for a ride'
...works for me.

Now, this photo does not do the moon justice....it was so gold...it was intense.
After not being able to capture it with the lens we decided we would paint it a couple of nights later.
We took our watercolours out to the picnic table with battery operated flickering candle in tow.
We both painted our scenes with great zest and enthusiasm. When we got back to the bus in full light we had both painted green sky and water with a pinkie coloured moon...!!!
Extraordinary.
ps. check out the reflection of the moon, it seems to defy perspective.

Well, we got to talking a lot with James and his wife and the jam was on...
Elle dusted off her violin, I dusted off my ukulele and woohoo.
