Oh yeah BusTed in Brisbane. Don't we just love taking our beautiful Theodora through the crowded city streets. Na it's not so bad, after all she's only bus size, and we do enjoy new adventures.
Anyway, while we were in Lake Broadwater we met a couple of really lovely ladies, Maureen and
Ruth. They are from Brisbane, so yep... you guessed it, we went visiting.
Look at this beautiful old Queenslander they live in, just gorgeous.
The street was just a normal street with cars parked on either side, this proved difficult for Theodora to get into Ruth and Mauzies backyard, so we parked on the footpath. You may notice we are parked the wrong way......it wasn't until later the second night we were there when the council man came with a letter and a threatened fine of $550 that we realised our mistake. In Brisbane suburbs, heavy vehicles can only park for an hour.
Luckily or unluckily we needed a couple of new tyres, so we just parked it at the tyre place for a couple of days and slept inside the house.
Saturday was the most beautiful weather , we drove up to the end of the line then all jumped onto a Catamaran (public transport) and made our way up the entire length of the Brisbane River to the last stop.
Who are these cool looking characters ??
( Ellen, Maureen and Ruth )
It was magnificent, we stopped at Southbank on the way back and went to the markets, they were great, then there is a manmade beach at the harbour side, it was abuzz with people of all shapes and sizes given the beautiful sunny day that it was.
We dined at a Vietnamese restaurant and enjoyed rice paper rolls and a pumpkin coconut dish that was to die for...Yuummm.
We meandered along the foreshore and visited a temple that was placed here in Expo 1988, it was carved entirely of wood and adorned with well endowed beauties.
We also went in search of a photographic exhibition, which proved to be well worth the search.
Finishing up this day with a look at the giant Ferris wheel. Then back to Ruth and Mauzies for another magnificent meal and a night of board games.
The next day we piled into 'Helga the Hilux' and headed for the hills,
the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains.
OMG
Captain Cook named these as they reminded him of the glass furnaces back in his hometown.
We decided that on our way back down we will come back and poke around here a bit more.
We went to a little place called Melany, it was full of quirky shops and great food.
Then up into the hills further to Montrose, which housed a Cuckoo clock shop, like I have never seen before, hand made chocolate and fudge and more collectables and adornments than you could poke a stick at. It was charming.
It has been so much fun.
Till next time
